JOURNEY BEHIND THE FALLS
In 1889, the Niagara Parks Commission decided to build a tunnel through the rock to exit well behind the Falls. Visitors were taken through the tunnel by guides carrying lanterns. In 1951, work began on an observation plaza located at the end of a branch of the old tunnel where a small outlook had been located. In 1993/1994, major renovations were carried out on the elevators and in 1994 to more graphically describe this attraction, the name was changed from Table Rock Scenic Tunnels to Journey Behind the Falls.

An elevator takes you down to a thunderous up close view of Niagara Falls. Journey behind the Falls now boasts two elevators that descend 125 ft. with about 46 metres (150 ft.) of tunnel burrowing behind the great sheet of Niagara Falls. This behind the scenes look at the Falls is an attraction not to miss. Open Year Round.
